Edit Multi-Camera iPhone Footage in DaVinci Resolve
Videk exports your recording as a DaVinci Resolve package: every camera track, the Director audio, and an XML timeline of your live camera switches. Import it into Resolve and your edit is rebuilt on the timeline, with every angle in the Media Pool ready to re-cut.
How It Works
From a Videk session to a DaVinci Resolve timeline in a few clicks.
- 1Record your session in Videk Director
All connected cameras record simultaneously to their own tracks, along with a timeline of which camera was live at every moment. Tweak the camera selections in playback if you like.
- 2Export for DaVinci Resolve
In Videk Director, open Recorded Sessions → select your recording → tap Export → choose "Export for DaVinci Resolve." Videk creates a ZIP with a Media folder (one file per camera plus the audio), an XML timeline, and a README.
- 3Set up the project and import the media
Create a new project in DaVinci Resolve, then drag the Media folder into the Media Pool so every camera angle and the audio are ready to link.
- 4Import the timeline
Choose File → Import → Timeline and select the videk-session.xml file. Untick "Automatically import source clips into media pool" so Resolve links the edit to the clips you just added, and leave "Automatically set project settings" ticked so the timeline is set to 30 fps. Your camera switches appear on the timeline, ready to refine, grade, and deliver.
Built for DaVinci Resolve
Your Live Edit, Rebuilt
The XML timeline recreates every camera switch from your session on a Resolve timeline. Start from the cut you made live instead of an empty timeline.
Every Angle in the Media Pool
All camera tracks are included in full, not just the parts used in the cut. Re-cut any shot, or build a multicam clip from the original angles in Resolve.
Director Audio Included
The Director audio is exported as its own file and placed on an audio track under the full length of the edit.
Clean 30 fps Timecode
Videk records every camera at a constant 30 fps, so cuts land on exact frames and Resolve links each event to the right clip.
Works With Free DaVinci Resolve
XML timeline import is part of the free version of DaVinci Resolve, as well as DaVinci Resolve Studio. No plugins needed.
Clear File Names
Camera files are named CAM1, CAM2, and so on, and the included README lists which device each camera was, so angles are easy to find.
vs. Syncing Footage by Hand in DaVinci Resolve
Without Videk, you would record each iPhone separately, import every file into Resolve, sync them by audio waveform, and then rebuild your edit from scratch. With Videk, all cameras are recorded on one shared clock and the timeline of your live switches comes with the export, so you start editing straight away.
